Solar Lights That Won’t Corrode by the Beach This Winter

Winter at the coast means damp, salty air that eats cheap electronics for breakfast. Your solar lights are fighting rust and weak sun.

Buying Guide: You need two words on the box: “Marine-Grade” or “Stainless Steel.” The housing and the screws must be corrosion-resistant. Plastic is okay if it’s thick, UV-stabilized polymer. Avoid anything with thin, painted metal.

The Salty Air Maintenance Ritual:
Every month, wipe the panels and housing with a damp cloth mixed with a little white vinegar or fresh water to remove salt film. This keeps the panel efficient and fights rust.

Placement Tip: Avoid placing lights where they’ll get direct spray from ocean waves or sprinklers. The constant wet/dry cycle is the killer. Elevated spots on a porch railing or a post are better than ground stakes.

Your environment is the ultimate test. Buy accordingly.
